KNOW ABOUT PROJECT UNICEF (P2EARN)

The Passport to Earning (P2E) initiative is a collaborative effort involving UNICEF's Generation Unlimited (YuWaah) and partners like NIIT Foundation. This program aims to equip young people, particularly women from marginalized backgrounds, with essential digital and financial skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial capabilities.

Collaboration with NIIT Foundation:

In June 2024, NIIT Foundation partnered with YuWaah to offer digital literacy courses through UNICEF's P2E portal to over 5,000 young women. The primary goal of this collaboration is to provide skilling-to-employment pathways for youth, especially women from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and marginalized communities. The program has expanded into districts in Odisha and Jharkhand, offering placement opportunities upon successful course completion. This initiative has empowered participants with digital skills, enhancing their access to various opportunities.

Achievements in India:

As of October 2023, the P2E initiative has skilled and certified over a million young people in India in areas of financial literacy and digital productivity. Notably, 62% of these learners are adolescent girls and young women. The platform provides free access to certificate courses in digital productivity, financial literacy, employability skills, and other in-demand, job-ready skills, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The program aims to deliver sustainable skilling for 5 million youth (14-29 years) in India by 2024, connecting them to opportunities in jobs, self-employment, and entrepreneurship.

Platform and Accessibility:

P2E operates on Microsoft's Community Training platform, offering provisions for online, hybrid, and offline learning models. The courses are accessible via computers or mobile devices with internet connectivity and are available in both English and Hindi. Upon successful completion of courses, participants receive certificates from the respective content partners and the United Nations.

Through collaborations with organizations like NIIT Foundation, the P2E initiative continues to expand its reach, empowering young people across India with the skills necessary for the future of work and life.
